January Book Club

Hey Y’all!

Here we are, the first month of the year. This months book club pick is a good one! Drum roll please!!!

We are reading The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood.

“This is the story of Offred, one of the unfortunate “Handmaids” under the new social order who have only one purpose: to breed. In Gilead, where women are prohibited from holding jobs, reading, and forming friendships, Offred’ s persistent memories of life in the “time before” and her will to survive are acts of rebellion.”

This was a book that I was supposed to read in grade 11, I mean I sparknotes’ it, that counts, especially in high school right?

I was so excited that this was a book chosen for book club. This time around I’m super into the book, but given the current political climate in the US it is honestly a bit scary to read.
