Let’s Talk – Nightstand Decor

Hi Friends!

A good nights sleep is everything, we have all heard this before. Today I’m going to share with you how I decorate my nightstand to help assist with keeping my mental health in check!

Quick disclaimer, obviously I am not a doctor, all of these tips are things I have tried and have helped my anxiety and depression. Please speak with your doctor if you have any medical questions.

First things first, my Himalayan salt lamp. The health benefits of these lamps are pretty amazing. Just a few include, better sleep, reduces stress, improves mood and improves breathing! Whether or not you believe that a salt lamp can help with all of these things, I love how soothing the soft light is, it makes it easier to stay relaxed while reading before I head to sleep.

A quick FYI, the next few items I actually now keep in my drawer on a regular basis because my little kitten likes to knock things over and play with them and since I number one don’t want her to ingest anything or hurt herself and number two I don’t want to be woken up at 2am by things being knocked over I have since put them away until I decide she is calm enough to not mess around with my stuff!

I like to keep a colouring book and coloured pencils to help destress. Honestly I usually use the colouring book when things get really bad. There is something very therapeutic for me to use beautiful colours within the lines of the blank pictures.

Every now and then I love to spray my pillow with a deep sleep pillow spray, it smells like lavender and it’s so wonderful. I tend to use this when I haven’t been sleeping well and I need a good nights rest. It really does help promote relaxation and helps me fall asleep!

I try and journal as often as I remember to be honest, I should be journaling more because the benefits journaling has are endless and I really do notice a difference in my mental health when I am journaling frequently. Some days I don’t know what to write, but the amazing Dana Clark created these wonderful connection cards that are perfect for journal prompts! The questions on these cards have really impacted me on a hell of a positive note, even the questions that I didn’t think I could emotionally handle have helped strengthen me.

Last but most certainly not least, the most important thing on my nightstand to help with my mental health is my antidepressants. A controversial topic but one I feel is very important to talk about. Currently writing a whole post about my medication journey so stay tuned for that. I have been using this specific one for about six months and have noticed a drastic difference.

There you have it! All of the things I keep in and on my nightstand to help keep my mental health in check!
